At the Winery
Winery
Fifth generation farmers Roma and Allan Nalder, alongside Robyn and Andrew McIntosh, established Helen's Hill in 1984. The winery is named in honour of its previous owner, the late Helen Fraser, and her favourite hill.
At Helen's Hill, planting the right vines in the right location is the starting point. The vineyard is 140 metres above sea level in the southern ranges of the Yarra Valley. It is a long, thin block with a number of hills running through it, creating diverse soil types and microclimates that allow the winemakers to match the conditions to a range of varieties. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir predominate.
There are two labels. The Helen's Hill label, which includes the Reserve range, is made with small parcels of fruit from select areas of their vineyard. The Ingram Road wines come at a more affordable price.
